The Beatles Book Monthly ceased publication in January 2003 after almost 40 years in print. Despite its demise the UK-based publication deserves an entry in my list of Beatles fanzines. Fans and collectors should be able to find second-hand copies in circulation for the next few years at least. Here is my original write-up:
Most fans are familiar with this UK fanzine which began publication back in 1963. It covered the Beatles throughout their career before shutting down shortly after the breakup. It re-appeared in the middle 70's as "The Beatles Appreciation Society" magazine and contained a new cover wrapped around copies of the original 77 issues. The current version of this glossy, monthly 'zine began in the early 80's and contains new information as well as articles which reflect on Beatle recordings, tours and their personal lives. The Beatles Book provides the fan with a UK perspective on the fabs, News and Diary information and a generous amount of colour and b/w photos.
